Nellie Ward

Nellie Eleanor (Lau) Ward, 50, of Pleasant View, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 1961, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage.

Born on Jan. 14, 1911, in Summum, she was a daughter of Franklin and Louisa Hughes Lau. She was married to Maurice Ward on Apr. 14, 1931, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Richard (and Joanne Rebman) Ward of Ann Arbor, Mich.; three grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer (Flossie) Lau of Chapin and Frank (Helen) Lau of Canton; two sisters, Rose (Ted) Vaughn of Canton and Florine (John) Trone of Rushville; and one half-sister, Ida (Oscar) Thompson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Lau; and two half-brothers, Archer and Grover Lau.

She was a member of Pleasant View Methodist Church and Rushville Household Science Club.

Funeral services were held at the Roby Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Dean Wright officiating. Burial was in the Rushville Cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie Ward, 50, Dies At Rushville

Mrs. Nellie Ward, 50, of Rushville died at 2 a.m. today at Culbertson Hospital in Rushville. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Roby Funeral Home in Rushville, the Rev. Dean Wright officiating. Burial will be in Rushville Cemetery.

Mrs. Ward was born in Fulton County Jan. 14, 1911, to Frank and Louise Hugh Lau. She had lived in Rushville 29 years. She married Maurice Ward April 14, 1931, at Virginia, Ill. She was a member of the Pleasant View Methodist Church and the Rushville Household Science Club.

Surviving are her husband, a son, Richard Glen of Ann Arbor, Mich., three grandchildren, four brothers and sisters, Elmer Lau of Chapin, Frank Lau and Mrs. Rose Vaughn of Canton, and Mrs. Florine Trone of Rushville, and a half-sister, Ida Thompson of Summum. Two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
