Summum Resident Dies In Home Following Illness

ASTORIA, JAN. 19 — (Special) — Oscar Lewis Thompson, 72, Summum, died yesterday afternoon in his home following a six-month illness.

Born Jan. 18, 1878 in Summum, a son of Benjamin F. and Rachael (McNeil) Thompson, he was married to Ida May Lau, who survives.

Other survivors are four sons, Ralph Thompson of Lewistown, Benjamin and Marshal Thompson of Browning, Galen Thompson of Ilpaca; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Marie Sager of Bader, and Mrs. May Malott of Roann, Ind.; four brothers, William and Earl Thompson of Ipava, Lute Thompson of Cuba and Carl Thompson of Astoria; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Blue of Astoria; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the Summum Christian church, where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock by the Rev. Fred Thompson, pastor.

Burial will be in the Summum cemetery. Friends may call at the Shawgo Memorial home until the hour of services.
