MARSHALL DEAN THOMPSON

Marshall Thompson

Marshall D. Thompson, 79, of Astoria, died at 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

He was born March 30, 1915, in Summum, a son of Oscar and Ida Mabel Lau Thompson. He married Elva L. Hummel Dec. 24, 1934, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Marshall Ray of Champaign; one daughter, Mrs. Gene (Judy) Vaughn of Washington; one sister, Hazel Sager of Astoria; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Charles; four brothers; and one sister.

He was an engineer technician for the Illinois Department of Transportation and a former farmer. He was a member and deacon of Bader Christian Church. He was a former member of the Bader and Browning school boards and a past president of the Astoria School Board. He belonged to the Schuyler County Farm Bureau. He had been the Browning Township supervisor and was a member of the Schuyler County Board. He was a member and president of the Spoon River Electric Board and was a member of the South Fulton Senior Citizens Club.

Funeral services were held this morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. James Shirley officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Canton.
