She was born Aug. 16, 1945, in Rushville, the daughter of Marshall and Elva Hummel Thompson. She married H.E. “Gene” Vaughn on Aug. 20, 1966, in Bader. He survives.
Also surviving are two children, Susan (and Kevin) Root of Hoopeston and Mike (and Rebecca) Vaughn of Washington; one brother, Marshall Thompson of Champaign; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Thompson; and her parents.
She was a teacher in various grades at District #50 and District #52, both in Washington, for more than 30 years. She also was a co-founder of the Washington Christian Pre-School and an active member of Washington Christian Church.
Services will be private, due to current restrictions. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery in Washington. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is in charge of arrangements.
