Hazel Sager

Hazel Marie Sager, 93, of Astoria died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at the Astoria Manor.

She was born Feb. 23, 1908, in Fulton County, a daughter of Oscar Louis and Ida Mabel Lau Thompson. She married Paul Sager on May 23, 1925, in Shelbina, Mo. He died July 11, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by her four sons, Boyd, Donald, two infant sons, James Russell and Phillip Eugene; five brothers; and one sister.

Surviving are one son, Bernard (and Linda) Sager of Elmwood; two daughters-in-law, Joanna Sager of Astoria and Henrietta Sager of Reno, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She attended Summum schools, was a member of Summum Christian Church and helped her husband farm for many years. She loved to cook, work word search puzzles and play bingo.

Services were held Saturday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with Kevin Sager officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery near Astoria.
