Bernard SagerBernard Sager, 86, of Elmwood died April 19, 2019, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Centerville, Iowa, a son of Paul and Hazel Thompson Sager. He married Linda Hatton on Nov. 22, 1955, in Havana. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Vickie (and Richard) Johnson of rural Princeville, Rhonda (and Dennis) Leezer of Yates City and Cheryl (and Joe) Harlow of Elmwood; one son, Steven (and Valerie) Sager of Elmwood; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Boyd Sager.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a television repairman for 40 years at Countrywide Television and Appliance Store in Farmington. He also was an active member of Crossroads Assembly of God Church in Elmwood. For the past 10 years, he assisted the Crossroad Food Bank team from pick-up, through sorting the boxes, to delivery.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Assembly of God Church, 615 East Ash, Elmwood, IL 61529. Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood is in charge of arrangements.
