VeteranEldon Gilson Dies Feb. 5

Eldon D. Gilson of 11509 Dexter St., Clio, Mich., age 54, died Thursday, Feb. 5, at Hurley Hospital.

Mr. Gilson was born in Astoria on Sept. 24, 1915, a son of Fenton and Edna Gilson. He had been a resident of Clio for 24 years, moving from Illinois. He was married to Frances R. Metzger in Clio on Aug. 13, 1942. She preceded him in death on Feb. 27, 1967.

Mr. Gilson was a veteran of World War II and was employed at the Clio Foundry for 20 years and Chevrolet National Parts Distribution for one year.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Edna Gilson of Galesburg; three brothers, Eugene of Macomb, Gerald of Galesburg and Jerry of Bader; five sisters, Mrs. Verna Ward of Peoria, Mrs. Vilda Poppenhager of Astoria, Mrs. Jacqueline Toland and Mrs. Betty Sundberg, both of Galesburg, and Mrs. Janice Abel of Victoria; one half sister, Mrs. Roy McMullen of Astoria; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Benjamin and Whipple Funeral Home in Clio, with Rev. Ralph P. Hughes officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery there.
