Verna L. “Tootie” Ward, 73, of Peoria, died at 6:32 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 1991 at Proctor Community Hospital.
She was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Astoria, a daughter of Fenton D. and Edna M. Beadles Gilson. She married Howard W. Ward on July 3, 1936, in Rushville. He died Jan. 23, 1988, in Peoria.
Two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two brothers, Gerald Gilson of Galesburg and Jerry Gilson of Bader; and two sisters, Mrs. Hayden (Betty) Sundberg of Galesburg and Mrs. Robert (Jacquelin) Toland of Knoxville.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilton Mortuary, with Rev. James M. Sandy officiating. Burial was in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
