Jerry Edward Gilson, 68, of Bader died at 5:59 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born May 2, 1933, in Astoria, a son of Fenton D. and Edna Beedles Gilson. He married Donna Lind on Aug. 6, 1953, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Monte (and Karen) Gilson of Bader, Jerrall Gilson of Vermont, Kenny (and Anna) Logue of Chicago, and Rick (and Stacy) Logue of Chicago; six daughters, Kittenna (and Gary) Beard of Arenzville, Latrisha (and Larry) Anderson of Urbana, Ohio, Michelle (and Bill) Unland of Beardstown, Ranae (and Eric) Moranville of Astoria, Shanee Sullivan of Macomb and Jamie Gilson of McNeil, Miss.; one brother, Gerald (and Evelyn) of Galesburg; two sisters, Betty (and Hayden) Sundberg of Galesburg and Jackie (and Robert) Toland of Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five step-greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Cameron; three brothers; and six sisters.

He was a Korean War Army veteran and a member of Astoria American Legion Post 25.

He was a welder for International Harvester Co. in Canton for more than 12 years. He also was a ham radio operator.

He was a member of Bader Christian Church.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial was in South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria, where military rites were accorded by American Legion Post 25.

Memorials may be made to his church or Astoria Rescue Squad.
