Josephine McMullen Dies On Saturday

Mrs. Josephine “Josie” McMullen, 70, of Astoria, died Saturday, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Fulton County on July 30, 1902, a daughter of Fenton and Sally Scrogum Gilson. She was married Jan. 28, 1920, in Lewistown, to Roy McMullen, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Russell of Smithfield and Roy McMullen, Jr. of Ipava; three daughters, Mrs. Bernita Tippey of Rushville, Mrs. Helen Schisler of Astoria and Mrs. Joan Butler of Fenton, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her stepmother, Mrs. Edna Gilson of Galesburg; three half-brothers and five half-sisters.

A daughter, a granddaughter, a brother, two sisters and a half-brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon at the Summum Christian Church with Rev. Price Flannery officiating. Burial will be in the Astoria Cemetery.
