Helen WiseHelen M. Wise, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Astoria, died at 9:42 a.m. April 15, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born March 18, 1933, in Astoria, a daughter of Roy C. and Josephine Gilson McMullen. She married Clair D. Schisler on June 23, 1951, in Ft. Ord, Calif. He preceded her in death on July 29, 1967. She then married George H. Wise on June 9, 1984, in Astoria. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2015.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell and Roy McMullen Jr.; and two sisters, Bernita Perez and Virginia McMullen.

Surviving are two sons, James (and Barb) Schisler of New London, Iowa, and Thomas (and Annette) Schisler of Troy, Mo.; two daughters, Christy (and Dave Hultgren) Schisler of Peoria and Lori J. Schisler (and John Romano) of Springfield; three stepdaughters, Marsha Colletta of Oakland, Ore., Carrie Wise of Pensacola, Fla., and Kristen (and Brad) Bettencourt of Annapolis, Md.; two stepsons, Ed (and Kathryn) Wise of Worland, Wyo., and Dan (and Robin) Wise of Bolingbrook; one sister, Joan (and Rodney) Butler of Fenton, Mo.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.

She was an LPN for the Fulton County Health Department in Canton. She later was the manager for the Fulton County Health Department’s sub-office in Astoria, retiring in 1993.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be at Astoria Cemetery.
