Mrs. Erma Lenore Bucy, 84, of Vermont, died at the Astoria Care Center at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 1975.
She was born in Astoria Township, in Fulton County on March 31, 1891, a daughter of Martin and Mary Brinton Horner. She married John W. Bucy in December, 1914, in Lewistown. He died June 12, 1954.
Surviving are 8 sons: Otis of Springfield, Wayne of San Diego, Calif., Ansel of Silvis, Claire of Claypool, Ariz., George of Beardstown, Henry and Eldon, both of Vermont, and John of Astoria; two daughters, Mrs. June McCormick of Vermont and Mrs. Betty Ricketts of Peoria, Ariz.; 5 stepchildren, Ernest and Charles Bucy of Astoria, Mrs. Dorothy Hughes of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Mrs. Vera Brillhart of Plymouth and Boyd Bucy of Vermont; four sisters, Greeta Butler and Wilma Horner of Astoria, Ethyl Brillhart of Bushnell and Mildred Bricker of Havana; 37 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great, great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She spent her entire life in the Vermont Area until she entered the Astoria Care Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Vermont United Methodist Church with Rev. E. L. Dunavin officiating. “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden” were played by the organist, Mrs. Helen McCurdy. Pallbearers were Dr. Edward Counselman, Dr. Gary Counselman, Brian McCormick, Dennis Bucy, Steven Bucy and James Bucy. Burial was in Union Chapel Cemetery north of Astoria.
