Dorothy HughesDorothy L. Hughes, 103, of Rushville died at 6:13 p.m. March 21, 2007, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven nursing home in Rushville.

She was born April 17, 1903, in Vermont Township, Fulton County, a daughter of John William and Lena Plate Bucy. She married Corbin D. Hughes on July 7, 1933, in Lewistown. He died April 2, 1984.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Harold; one sister, Lela; and nine brothers, Ernest, Charles, Boyd, Otis, Wayne, Ansel, Claire, George and Henry Bucy.

Surviving are one son, Dale of Monroeville, Pa; three sisters, Vera Brillhart of Williamsville, June McCormick of Rushville and Betty Ricketts of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Eldon Bucy of Vermont and John Bucy of Astoria; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was a homemaker. She and her husband won yard and flower home of the month honors in Moline and Fort Myers, Fla.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Stacy Tomich officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven activity fund.
