Grover C. Briney Known Here Dies From Injuries

Grover Briney, a former resident of Bluff City community, received injuries in an accident at Lexington, Mo., on Wednesday of last week, which terminated in his death.

He was employed as foreman for Brosnaham Construction company of Kansas City, Mo. While working with a concrete mixing machine, he was struck on the head with such force as to fracture his skull, rendering him unconscious. He never regained consciousness, dying Saturday morning at 5:15. Every care known to medical science was used to no avail.

His family, consisting of his wife and five children, reside in Rushville. They have the sympathy of their many friends and acquaintances in their great sorrow.

Grover C. Briney of Rushville, Ill., son of Jas. E. and Carolyn Weddle Briney, was born near Sheldons Grove, Ill., Sept. 24, 1892. Had he lived until today, he would have been 38 years old.

He was united in marriage to Golda Dixon, on June 20th, 1914, who survives him together with five children. One son, Howard, having preceded him in death. Those living: Woodrow, Carolyn, John, Virginia and James Jr. He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers, namely, Bessie Troth and Mrs. Gertrude Priebe, Chicago, Ill.; Edd, of Crook, Colorado; Roy, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; James Jr. of Beardstown, Ill. and John, of Bluff City.

Mr. Briney’s father and mother are both deceased. His father having died three months ago.

Funeral services were held from the M. E. church at Sheldons Grove on Monday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock, with Rev. Rippey in charge. Interment in Sheldons Grove cemetery.
