Boy Kicked By Horse; Injuries Prove Fatal

Howard Briney, the seven-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Grover Briney, who reside in the Big Lake drainage district near Bluff City, was kicked in the forehead by a family horse, Thursday evening at about four o’clock, while carrying water for thrashing hands. He was immediately taken to the Holmes hospital, where an operation was performed. A portion of the skull was removed in the hopes of saving the life of the child, but all proved in vain. He passed away at 11:30 o’clock Friday evening.

Howard Briney was born September 14, 1916, and at the time of his death, was aged six years, ten months and six days. He leaves to mourn his death a father and mother, two brothers, Woodrow and John and one sister, Alice, all at home.

The heartbroken parents and children have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of this beloved son and brother.

Funeral services were held Sunday at two o’clock at the Bluff City church. Burial in the Sheldons Grove cemetery.
