M. Darlene Waggoner

M. Darlene Waggoner, 93, of Astoria died at 6:02 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.

She was born June 29, 1911, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Newton B. and Pearl Gould Derry. She married Russell L. Waggoner on Dec. 23, 1929, in Macomb. He died March 12, 1974.

She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Ben, Willis, Vernon, Otis and Donald Derry; two stepbrothers, Dean and Jack Parr; and one stepsister, Wanda Averill.

Surviving are one son, Dr. Charles (and Diana) of Portales, N.M.; two grandsons; one great-grandson; two sisters, Dorothy Brillhart of Astoria and Fern Conner of San Jose, Calif.; one brother, Bernard (and Darlene) Derry of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; and two stepsisters, Nelda Herriford and Flossie Danner, both of Macomb.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church, where she served as custodian for several years.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at her church with Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Summum Cemetery.
