Donald Derry Of Astoria Dies

Donald H. Derry, 61, of 315 E. Church St. died at 5:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 1990 at his home.

He was born Nov. 7, 1928, in Fulton County, a son of Newton B. and Pearl Gould Derry. He married Shirley Thompson on Nov. 23, 1951, in Astoria. She survives. 

Also surviving are one son, Stephen Derry, of Astoria; two brothers, Ben Derry and Bernard Derry of Astoria; three sisters, Darlene Waggoner and Dorothy Brillhart, both of Astoria, and Ferne Conner of Turlock, Calif.; one stepbrother, Jack Parr of Vermont; and two stepsisters, Nelda Herriford of Ipava and Flossie Danner of Adair.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, one stepbrother and one stepsister.

He worked for Bader Auto Sales, Curly’s Auto Repair, and retired from Amax Coal Co. in 1984. At the time of his death he worked for Astoria Community School District. An Air Force veteran, he was a member of Astoria American Legion Post 25. He was also a member of Summum Christian Church

Services were held Saturday, with Rev. Steve Castaneda officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
