Vernon D. Derry, 52, of Astoria died at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville at 7:20 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Derry was born March 9, 1929, in Woodland Township, the son of Newton and Pearl Gould Derry.
He was a member of the Summum Christian Church. Mr. Derry was a farmer.
He married Helen Conner Jan. 15, 1938, at Keokuk and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Larry E. Derry of Astoria; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Mummert and Mrs. Linda Bainter, both of Astoria; five grandchildren; five brothers, Ben of Smithfield, Willis and Donald of Astoria, Otis of Chicago and Bernard of East Peoria; and three sisters, Mrs. Darlene Waggoner and Mrs. Dorothy Brillhart, both of Astoria, and Mrs. Fern Conner of San Jose, Calif.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Summum Christian Church with Rev. James Shirley and Collis Trone officiating. Burial will be in the Summum Cemetery.
