Nelda SchnarrNelda L. Schnarr, 80, of Lewistown died at 4:24 a.m. April 5, 2008, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born May 18, 1927, in Canton, a daughter of George Dewey and Clara Mae Stambaugh Klinedinst. She married Berton G. “Bud” Schnarr on Sept. 6, 1947, in Lewistown. He died Feb. 2, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Klinedinst; and one sister, Vernadene Buswell.

Surviving are one daughter, Nancy (and Mark) Chenoweth of Lewistown; four sisters, Violet Wickert and Marjorie (and Devere) Scrogum, both of Astoria, Leona (and Harold) Ogden of Lewistown and Claribel Buswell of Ipava; and one brother, Leroy (and Doris) Klinedinst of Astoria.

She worked at Camp Grant and Camp Ellis as a payroll clerk. She also worked for Bader Chevrolet in Lewistown as an office secretary and Ben Franklin in Lewistown as a clerk. She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of Illinois Street Christian Church in Lewistown where she taught Sunday school. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Woodland Church of the Brethren in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Kessler and Rev. Ray Greenfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to her church or Lewistown Fire and Rescue Squad.
