Esta BuswellEsta “Claribel” Buswell, 90, of Ipava died at 11:56 a.m. Aug. 27, 2021, at Renaissance Care Center in Canton.

She was born Feb. 12, 1931, in Astoria, a daughter of George and Clara Mae Stambaugh Klinedinst. She married Kenneth Buswell on Nov. 5, 1949, in Ipava. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2004.

She also was preceded in death by five sisters, Leona Ogden, Nelda Schnarr, Vernadene Buswell, Marjorie Scrogum and Violet Wickert; and two brothers, Leroy Klinedinst and Forrest Klinedinst.

Surviving are two sons, Darrel Buswell and Donald (and Niccole) Buswell, both of Ipava; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She graduated from VIT High School. She was a life-long farmer (farming alongside her husband) and homemaker to her family. She worked for Fiber Steel in Astoria and went on to be a cook at VIT High School where she retired. She served abundantly as a member, deaconess and trustee of Ipava Christian Church. She was a member of the Ipava Toy Committee. She also coached T-Ball with her husband.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at her church with Pastor Brant Reed and Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
