Kenneth BuswellKenneth E. Buswell, 80, of Ipava died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, in Harlingen, Texas.

He was born Feb. 23, 1923, in Newark, Mo., a son of George Otis and Ocie Viola Wright Buswell. He married Claribel Klinedinst on Nov. 5, 1949, in Ipava. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Darrel and Donald (and Niccole), both of Ipava; one brother, Harold "Red" of Ipava; two sisters, Virginia Baker and Geneva Bevans, both of Kansas City, Mo., and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Edgar, Jennings, Wayne, Junior and Earl; and three sisters, Sylvia Stokes, Maurine Stokes and Estelle Buswell.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in Battery B Second Field Artillery Battalion. He also served in the 108th Ordnance Medical Maintenance Company of the National Guard.

He worked at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, retiring in 1986.

He also was a lifelong farmer.

He served on the Ipava Toy Show Committee.

He was a member of the Park Place Shuffleboard League in Harlingen.

He was a member of Ipava Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and trustee.

Services were held Tuesday at his church with Rev. Kevin Kessler and Rev. Leonard Leslie officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
