DeLoss Markley Dies In Beardstown

DeLoss Markley, 88, an Astoria area resident many years, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday morning, Dec. 11, 1972, at Elmwood Manor Nursing Home in Beardstown.

He was born in Fulton County on June 12, 1884, a son of Sylvester and Rebecca McKinley Markley. He married Minnie Farwell on Feb. 29, 1908. She died on April 15, 1957.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Erma Boyd of Browning; two sons, Dale Markley of Canton and Wilbert Markley of Lewistown; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Myers of Astoria, Mrs. Ethel Moore and Mrs. Helen Stromac, both of Peoria; and one brother, Roy Markley of Vermont.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Markley was a retired farmer, a member of the Summum Christian Church, and a past director of Lewistown Mutual County Fire and Insurance Co.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. this afternoon in the Summum Christian Church with Rev. Price Flannery officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
