Vern R. McCormick, 71, lifetime Astoria area resident died at his home near Astoria Sunday evening, Dec. 29. He had been in failing health for several months.
He was born Sept. 19, 1897, near Astoria, a son of Finley and Rebecca Bollinger McCormick. He married Adah Bankes March 16, 1920, she survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Melvin McCormick, East Peoria; Marvin McCormick, Ipava; Norman McCormick, Canton; Merlin McCormick, Prairie City; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Arnett of Aurora, Colo.; 10 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren, and 5 step great grandchildren. One brother Ralph McCormick of Astoria also survives.
Two daughters and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria.
