VeteranNorman McCormick Dies In Accident

Norman L. McCormick, 59, of Duncan Mills, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 4, 1990, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. He died of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident June 28 on Route 78 about one-half mile south of Canton.

He was born July 6, 1930, in Astoria Township, the son of Vern R. and Adah (Bankes) McCormick. He married Mildred Spicer on Aug. 21, 1955, in Beardstown. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, David of Zephyr Hills, Fla., and Mark A. of Largo, Fla.; five grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin of Huntington, Tenn., Marvin of Ipava and Merlin of Bushnell; and one sister, Mrs. Lyle (Dorothy) Arnett of Lewistown.

He retired from International Harvester in Canton after working there 25 years. He was employed at Canton Industrial Corp. He was in the military during the Korean War.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Dennis Falb and Simon Dean officiated. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
