John Ebbert

IPAVA — John Ebbert passed away at his late home on East Broadway on Dec. 14, after an illness of a year’s duration from stomach trouble. John Edmond Ebbert was born in Summum on April 29, 1859, and was the son of George and Savilla Stonecypher Ebbert. His entire life was spent in this vicinity. On Sept. 8, 1881, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Maria Babcock. He is survived by his wife and eight children: C. Claude Ebbert, LaSalle; Henry A. Ebbert, Ipava; Guy H. Ebbert, Adair; Jesse C. Ebbert, Peoria; George F. Ebbert, Table Grove; Ruth May and Ruby Gay Ebbert, Ipava; Mrs. Gladys Kinnamon, Ipava. There are a number of grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, Samuel and Frank Ebbert, Ipava and one sister, Mrs. Anna Huff, Summum. Mr. Ebbert was one of our most successful farmers and was held in the highest esteem. He was devoted to his wife and family. About three years ago he left the farm and moved to Ipava. The funeral services were conducted at his late home on Tuesday afternoon and were in charge of Rev. C. W. Johnston, pastor of the Christian church, of which Mr. Ebbert was a faithful member. Interment was in the Ipava cemetery.
