Death of Samuel Ebbert

Samuel Ebbert passed away at his home in Ipava Saturday morning, June 22 at 9:30, after having been ill for only the past few weeks. At the time of his death he was aged 78 years, 11 months and 15 days.

Mr. Ebbert was born July 7, 1856, at Bremen, Germany, a son of Geo. and Flo Villa Ebbert and has been a respectable citizen where he has resided for 30 years. On Sept. 2, 1888 he was united in marriage to Miss Eva Severns. To this union eight children were born, George and Ralph, deceased; children surviving are: Miss Fannie Ebbert of Ipava; Miss Doris Ebbert of Piney Woods, Miss.; Harry of Swanna, Ill.; Forest of Rockford and Floyd and Herman of Ipava. There is also surviving one brother, Frank Ebbert of Colchester, and a sister Mrs. Anna Huff of Summum, besides several nieces and nephews. His wife passed away March 3, 1927.

Mr. Ebbert was a carpenter and cabinet maker during his life and had done considerable work of that kind in Ipava and community and his workmanship was counted among the best obtainable. Mr. Ebbert was quiet in nature and fond of his family and in his declining years his children have been devoted to him. He was a member of the Methodist church.

The funeral was held from the home on North Mechanic street on Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. John Hubbs of Gladstone. Interment in Ipava cemetery.
