Max P. Bowman Sr., 66, of Astoria died at 4:17 p.m. May 29, 2011, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital Emergency Room in Rushville.
He was born Feb. 11, 1945, in Vermont, a son of Thomas Jefferson and Flora May Lawson Bowman. He married Pauline Bressler on April 30, 2000, in Vermont. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Max (and Brandy) Bowman Jr., Joe (and Chelsea) Skiles, Keith (and Monica) Skiles and Patrick (and Toni) Skiles, all of Astoria, and Thomas (and Benita) Bowman of El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Donna (and Archie) Estes of Springfield and Jamie Campbell of Loami; three brothers, William Bowman and Robert Bowman, both of Vermont, and Donald (and Charlotte) Bowman of Bone Gap; three sisters, Ruby (and Gilbert) Hickle and LuAnn Schisler, both of Astoria, and Mary Tarboletti of Canton; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Stambaugh and Elma May Royer; and one brother, Curtis Bowman.
He worked at Vermont Foundry.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.
