Ruby Hickle

Ruby A. Hickle, 87, of Astoria died at 9:35 p.m. Jan. 18, 2017, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born April 29, 1929, in Vermont, a daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Flora Margaret Lawson Bowman. She married Gilbert LeRoy Hickle on Feb. 2, 1947, in Peoria Heights. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, James (and Kathy) Hickle of Astoria, Michael Hickle of Quincy and David (and Kim) Hickle of Bushnell; two daughters, Mary (and Herb) Dilts of Marietta and Shelley (and Robert) Haare of Astoria; two brothers, Robert (and Kathy) Bowman of Bushnell and Donald (and Charlotte) Bowman of Bone Gap; one sister, LuAnn Schisler of Astoria; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, one great-granddaughter, three sisters, three brothers and three half-brothers.

She and her husband owned and operated Old Orchard in Vermont.

She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Reverend Steve Granadosin officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
