Michael E. Hickle, 66, of Quincy, formerly of Macomb, died at 5:30 a.m. Nov. 1, 2018, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born March 3, 1952, in Rushville, a son of Gilbert and Ruby Bowman Hickle.

Surviving are his father, Gilbert Hickle of Astoria; two sons, Christopher (and Christina) Hickle of Smithfield, Mo. and Jeremy (and Angelina) Hickle of Providence, Ky.; two brothers, Jim (and Kathy) Hickle of Astoria and David (and Kim) Hickle of Bushnell; two sisters, Mary (and Herb) Dilts of Marietta and Shelley (and Bob) Haare of Astoria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Shawn Hickle; and his mother, Ruby Hickle.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971, with basic training in Wanini, Calif. He was stationed at Guantanamo Bay Navel Base in 1974. In 1976, he was stationed at Bermuda Navel Air Station. He was discharged as a Petty Officer, Second Class in 1978.

Services were held Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Bennett Woods officiating. Military rites were provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Cremation rites were accorded after the service.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Peoria Affiliate, Peoria.
