Charles Webb Dies Saturday Following Lengthy Illness

A former Astoria resident Charles B. Webb, 76, died early Saturday in his home in Lewistown, following a three year’s illness. He had lived in Lewistown since 1944 and prior to that he had lived in the Astoria area.

Born August 16, 1884, in Greenbush, a son of John and Lucinda Osborn Webb, he was married on April 29, 1906, in Ipava to Ethel Smith who survives.

Also surviving are ten children, Clair and Walter of Astoria, Lyle and Russell of Bushnell, Mrs. Ruby Stremmel of Farmington, Herman of Ipava, Floyd of Grenfield, Ind., Maurice, Robert and Mrs. Mildred Slaight of Lewistown; 26 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2 brothers, Claude Webb of Carthage and George Webb of Quincy.

Two children, three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Webb was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church where funeral services were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, with the pastor, Rev. J. H. Ruberg officiating. Burial was in the Astoria cemetery.
