CHARLES EDMUND “BUD” SKILES

C. E. "Bud" Skiles, 83, of Astoria died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Astoria Gardens.

He was born June 5, 1921, in Browning Township, Schuyler County, a son of Charles Allen and Mary Kolp Skiles. He married Leona Baum on Oct. 28, 1939, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Diana (and Ernie) Welchel of Eureka; one son, Darrell (and Carolyn) of Colchester; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward (and Beulah) of Industry; and four sisters, Edna Fisk of Astoria, Alice Kiel of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Aloise Beaird of Sherman and Edith West of McCall, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by one son, Edmund Eugene Skiles; one brother, Orrin Skiles; and one sister, Mary "Bob" Haney.

He was a lifetime farmer in the Astoria area and also worked as an auctioneer for 15 years.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
