Edward Skiles

Edward SkilesEdward L. Skiles, 91, of Industry died at 3:50 p.m. Dec. 30, 2009, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Macomb.

He was born Feb. 3, 1918, in Bader, a son of Charles A. and Mary Kolp Skiles. He married Beulah B. Bowes on Sept. 28, 1940, in Enid, Okla. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Travis of Macomb and Sandy Dummer of Industry; one son, Neil (and Karen) Skiles of Industry; three sisters, Edna Fisk of Astoria, Alice Keil of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Aloise Beaird of Petersburg; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith West and Mary Haney; and three brothers, Harry, Charles “Bud” and Orrin Skiles.

He was a lifetime farmer, and also worked for Watson Seed Company.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Jon Keck officiating. Burial was in Industry Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Industry Rescue Squad or Industry Veterans Memorial.
