Mrs. R. C. Ruby Of Adair Passes Away

Matilda (Lau) Ruby, 78, wife of R. C. Ruby of Adair, passed away at her home late yesterday, after an illness of two weeks with complications attributed to her age.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7, at the Dodsworth funeral home in Macomb, with the Rev. Mr. Honderich of the Adair United Brethren Church officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery, Macomb.

She was born to Emanuel and Caroline (Gipe) Lau in York county, Pennsylvania, on March 14, 1859, and came to this state in 1865 with her parents. They settled near Astoria where she grew to womanhood. She was the fourth child in a family of 11, four of whom preceded her in death, as did her parents and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Warner.

On August 12, 1883, she was united in marriage to R. C. Ruby, who survives. She leaves also the following daughters: Mrs. Flora Chenoweth, Mrs. Alta Mae Wolfe, and Mrs. Annabelle Keough of Macomb, Mrs. Frances Kennedy of Table Grove and Mrs. Jessie Wilson of Canton. Twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Ida Deary of Summum, and the following brothers also survive: John Lau, Peoria; Franklin Lau, Michael Lau and Edward Lau, Astoria, and Emanuel Lau, Ipava.

She united with the Lutheran church at Summum, Ill., at an early age.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the hour of the services.
