Michael C. Lau Dies Saturday

Michael C. Lau, 86, died early Saturday morning in Culbertson hospital in Rushville after an illness of several months.

A lifelong resident of the Astoria area, he was born Feb. 6, 1874 in Leesburg, the son of Emmanuel and Caroline Gipe Lau. He was married Aug. 20, 1906 to Emma Warner, who died Jan. 6, 1953.

He was a member of the Astoria Lodge, Knights of Pythias and of the Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Walraven of Plainville, Kans., and Mrs. Helen Shaw of Astoria; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was the last survivor of a family of 12.

Services were held Monday afternoon at the Shawgo Memorial Home with the Rev. Eugene Reynolds of Summum, officiating. Burial in the Woodland cemetery.
