Dorothy Plate

Dorothy B. Plate, 74, of Astoria died at 3:22 a.m. Jan. 9, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born June 26, 1939, in Astoria, a daughter of Orville V. and Fern Thomas Trone. She married William Lee Plate on Nov. 9, 1959, in Lewistown. He survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Kimberly (and Pete) Ford of Lewistown; two sons, Kevin (and Shanee Sullivan) Plate and Kurt Plate, both of Astoria; her mother, Fern Trone of Astoria; five sisters, Rosemary Williams of Canton, Jeanette (and Harold E.) Hopkins, Opalene (and Virgil) Stambaugh, Ida (and Dave) Clark, all of Astoria, and June (and David) Hicke of Glasford; two brothers, Tom (and Pam) Trone and Stephen Trone, both of Astoria; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Trone.

She worked at Ken-Ray Foundry in Vermont. She also worked at Astoria Laundry Mat and Bob’s Dairy Dipper in Astoria and was a cook at Astoria Healthcare Center for many years.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
