William Lee Plate

William Lee Plate, 78, of Astoria died at 7:08 p.m. April 30, 2014, at Heartland Health Care Center in Canton.

He was born July 15, 1935, in Astoria, a son of Fred and Grace Amelia Adkison Plate.

He married Dorothy Belle Trone on Nov. 9, 1959, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on Jan. 9, 2014.

Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly (and Pete) Ford of Lewistown; two sons, Kevin (and Shanee Sullivan) Plate and Kurt Plate, both of Astoria; four sisters, Ilene (and Leroy) Davison of Canton, Edith Coleman of Lewistown, Joyce Sarff of Kewanee and Sheryl Trone of Astoria; one brother, Keith (and Linda) Plate of Havana; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He worked at Vermont Foundry, helped area farmers and worked construction as a union laborer in the Peoria area.

He was a member of Union Local 165 Laborers International Union of North America and Astoria Christian Church.

Services were held Monday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Brandon Llewellyn officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery in Astoria.
