Richard Pittman

Richard Pittman, 83, of Colchester died at 5:59 a.m. Oct. 15, 2008, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon.

He was born Oct. 9, 1925, in Canton, a son of Arthur and Leta Mellier Pittman. He married Bess M. Peel on Feb. 14, 1945, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death Oct. 12, 2004.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Jack and Charles Pittman.

Surviving are two sons, Richard Pittman of Astoria and Randall (and Carol) Pittman of Colchester; one daughter, Robin Pittman of Colchester; special friend, Polly Pittman; one brother, Robert (and Marianne) Pittman of Blacksburg, Va.; three sisters, Mary (and Phil) Kessler of League City, Texas, Elizabeth (and Ethan) Gramm of Orlando, Fla., and Barbara Miller of Astoria; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was involved in farming, trucking, auto mechanics and a self-employed building contractor.

He was a member of Macomb First Baptist Church, charter member of Elygra Campers Club and Scout master.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 18, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester with Pastor Wally Holt officiating. Burial was in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.
