Ethan Gramm

Ethan M. Gramm, 69, of Florida died at 9 a.m. Feb. 25, 2009, at home.

He was born April 7, 1939, in Adair County, Kentucky, a son of Hershey and Dalta Gramm. He married Elizabeth A. Pittman on Dec. 27, 1959, in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Renee A. Gramm of Orlando; one son, Roger (and Denise) Gramm of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Donald Gramm of Salina, Kan., and Irwin Gramm of Bloomington, Calif.; and one sister, Lois Barker of Pamona, Calif.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Gramm; and one sister, Vida Heise.

He graduated from Messiah College, Grantham, Pa., in 1964.

He served as a pastor for Brethren in Christ Church in Colorado Springs, Colo., Albuquerque, N.M., Palmyra, Pa., and Orlando.

He was a member of Christian Motorcyclists Association; CMA first as president of the local chapter; area representative in charge of 6-10 chapters; and Florida State Coordinator for four years.

After resigning from the pastorate at Holden Park Church in Orlando in 1997, he devoted his life to reaching the biking community in central Florida with the gospel.

Graveside committal services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Astoria Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Astoria Christian Church with Rev. Dan Cole officiating. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christian Motorcyclists Association, Run for the Son, 4716 Wayfarer Place, Orlando, FL 32807.
