Marilyn OrwigMarilyn I. Orwig, 88, of Astoria died at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 2022, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

She was born May 17, 1933, in Browning, a daughter of Lossie and Lula Gibson Bollinger. She married Dwayne Orwig on Jan. 30, 1956, in Springfield. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1997.

Also preceding her in death are one brother, Virgil Bollinger; four sisters, Donna Wehmeier, Hermenia Egbert, Inez Egbert and Betty Riebling; and one son-in-law, Dale McCurdy.

Surviving are two daughters, Rose McCurdy of Vermont and Sue Anne (and Mark) Stoneking of Green Valley; two sons, Danny (and Mary) Orwig of Havana and Jon (and Lisa) Orwig of Fort Madison, Iowa; one sister, Edna Miller of Rushville; one sister-in-law, Rita (and Bob) Hamm; one brother-in-law, Loyd McCombs; five grandchildren, Travis (and Niky Friday) McCurdy, Casey (and Brittney) Orwig, Nick (and Candyce) Orwig, Matt (and Jessica) Orwig and Kyle Orwig; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one step great-grandchild.

She was a homemaker who took very good care of her home and family.

She was a graduate of Gem City Business College in Quincy. She was a lifelong member of Church of Christ, both in Browning and later Astoria.

Services were held Saturday at Astoria Church of Christ with Pastor Eric Trone officiating. Burial was in the Browning Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
