Dwayne L. Orwig, 68, of Astoria, died at 11 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 1997, at his home.
He was born March 21, 1929, in Cuba, the son of Henry D. and Myrl LeMasters Orwig. He married Marilyn Bollinger on Jan. 30, 1956, in Springfield. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Rose McCurdy of Vermont and Sue Anne Stoneking of Green Valley; two sons, Daniel Orwig of Havana and Jon Orwig of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sisters, Rita Hamm of Marathon, Fla. and Linda McCombs of Astoria; five grandchildren; and one stepgranddaughter.
One sister preceded him in death.
He was a farmer in Astoria and also worked in mine construction. He retired in 1985. He was a member of Astoria Church of Christ and the United Mine Workers of America.
Services were held Tuesday at his church with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad or McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.
