Inez EgbertInez Irene Egbert, 95, of Quincy, formerly of Monticello and Holiday Island, Ark., died at 4:51 p.m. July 21, 2014, at Bickford Cottage.

She was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Browning, a daughter of Lossie and Lula Gibson Bollinger. She married George C. Egbert on June 19, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2011.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Virgil Bollinger; and two sisters, Donna Wehmeier and Hermenia Egbert.

Surviving are four children, Patricia Ashby of O’Fallon, Ill., Joan (and Ronn) Davis of Monticello, Paulette (and Dave) Trainor of Hennepin and Kent (and Vicky) Egbert of Quincy; three sisters, Edna Miller of Browning, Bette Riebling of Holiday Island, Ark., and Marilyn Orwig of Astoria; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She and her husband owned and operated Rothway Chick Hatchery in Monticello for many years until their retirement.

She was an active member of Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for 27 years. She enjoyed an active retirement life.

She was a member of Elks Lodge, an avid golfer and Bridge player. She served Meals on Wheels, and enjoyed traveling on Elder Hostels and a trip to Haiti where she and her husband volunteered to assist local poultry producers with a new hatchery.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Monticello United Methodist Church with Rev. Greg Courtright officiating. Private inurnment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends at a luncheon at Monticello United Methodist Church following the service.
