George EgbertGeorge Clifford Egbert, 94, of Holiday Island, Ark., died Nov. 26, 2011, at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1917, in Frederick, a son of Frank Christopher and Cora Minnie Utter Egbert. He married Inez Irene Bollinger on June 19, 1940. She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Patricia Joy Ashby of O'Fallon, Joan Marie (and Ronn) Davis of Monticello and Paulette Irene (and Dave) Trainor of West Chicago; one son, Kent Clifford (and Vicky) Egbert of Quincy; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Egbert; and one sister, Mary Stone.

He graduated with bachelor and masters degrees from University of Illinois in Urbana.

He was an agriculture teacher in Illinois in the 1940s; and a business owner and operator in the poultry industry in Illinois in the 1950s to present.

He was a charter elder and member of Holiday Island Presbyterian Church, Elks Club, Holiday Island property owners and golf membership associations, including HIMGA and Old Coots. He helped initiate the Holiday Island Christmas lights program and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years at Eureka Springs and Holiday Island.

Services were held Friday at Holiday Island Presbyterian Church with Rev. Clare Kelley officiating. Burial will be in Monticello Township Cemetery at a later date. Nelson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
