ELZADA (BAUMGARTNER) MARKLEY

Elzada Markley

Elzada Markley, 86, of Canton, died at 8:58 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn, of Canton.

She was born Sept. 9, 1913, in Kerton Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Hart and Carrie Markley Baumgartner. She married Dayle D. Markley on Feb. 17, 1934, in Astoria. He died Dec. 30, 1998.

She also was preceded in death by one granddaughter, two sisters and one brother.

Surviving are three daughters, Carol Welker and Carolyn (and Gene) Bollinger, both of Canton, and Sara (and Bill) Webb of Loveland, Colo.; one son, Robert (and Connie) Markley of Pekin; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and four sisters, Wilma Weber of Canton, Emily (and Robert) Curless of Astoria, Norene Derry of Peoria and Opal Milleson of Winter Garden, Fla.

A member of Evangelical Free Church, she taught Sunday school for many years, was a Sunday school secretary and served on the Christian education board.

Services were today at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Curtis Foss officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.
