Eugene BollingerEugene Bollinger, 77, of Canton died at 9:18 p.m. March 17, 2008, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born July 6, 1930, in Frederick Township, Schuyler County, a son of Luther and Leona Vaughn Bollinger. He married Carolyn Markley on Aug. 4, 1951, in Table Grove. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Dr. Dennis (and Lavena) Bollinger of Greenville, S.C.; one daughter, Carol (and Robert) Butler of Peoria; three sisters, Charlotte Norton of Rushville, Betty Norton of Beardstown and Freida Stambaugh of Astoria; one brother, Richard Bollinger of Rushville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was a welder at International Harvester in Canton for 21 years.

He was a member of Canton Evangelical Free Church where he served as trustee and was the custodian.

Services were held Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Dr. Dennis Bollinger and Brandon Theobold officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery in Astoria with military rites provided by Astoria American Legion Post #25.
