Frieda StambaughFrieda J. Stambaugh, 82, of Macomb, formerly of Astoria, died at 6:30 a.m. Sept. 5, 2020, at The Elms in Macomb.

She was born Dec. 15, 1937, a daughter of Luther and Leona Vaughn Bollinger. She married Donald E. “Donnie” Stambaugh on Jan. 10, 1956, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1988.

She also was preceded in death by one infant grandchild; one great-granddaughter, Lila Stambaugh; three sisters, Charlotte Norton, Mary Lou Bird and Marilyn Bollinger; and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Gene Bollinger.

Surviving are four sons, Rick (and Sue) Stambaugh of Ipava, Ronnie Stambaugh and Reggie Stambaugh, both of Rushville, and Randy (and Brenda) Stambaugh of Astoria; four daughters, Vickie Stambaugh of Bushnell, Patty Prather and Debbie (and Terry) Lucas, both of Rushville, and Susan (and Jason) Davis of Macomb; one sister, Betty Norton of Beardstown; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She worked at Mummert Seed House in Astoria for a few years then was a cook and aide at Astoria Community Unit #1 Schools.

She attended Astoria Church of the Nazarene when she was young. She then became a faithful member of Astoria Assembly of God Church where she played the piano for worship. When she moved to Rushville, she became a member of Rushville Assembly of God Church.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Browning Cemetery in Browning with Reggie Stambaugh officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. All CDC and IDPH guidelines will be followed.
