NELDA LEE (BOLLINGER) McCORMICK

Nelda McCormick

Nelda Lee McCormick, 89, of Astoria died at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 1995, at Mason District Hospital in Havana.

She was born March 24, 1906, in Fulton County, a daughter of Nathanial S. and Margaret Maye France Bollinger. She married Virgil “Red” McCormick on Sept. 20, 1924, in Virginia, Ill. He died Dec. 5, 1985. One daughter and one brother also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Philip “Bud” of Astoria; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (Marilyn) Walton of Bryant; one brother, Harold Bollinger of Vermont, Ill.; one sister, Louise Stewart of Trivoli; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She owned and operated a restaurant in Astoria and later worked for West Grocery Store in Astoria. She was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren and Pythian Sisters Lodge.

Funeral services were held this morning at her church with Rev. Ron Burtz officiating. Burial was in the Woodland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Woodland Cemetery Association.

Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
