V. R. McCormick Of Astoria Dies

Virgil R. (Red) McCormick, 80, of Astoria, died at 6:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, 1985, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

He was born Oct. 25, 1905, in Moberly, Mo., the son of Robert and Lulla (Phillips) McCormick. He married Nelda Bollinger Sept. 20, 1924, in Virginia, Ill. She survives.

Other survivors include one son, Phillip (Bud) McCormick of Astoria; two daughters, Mrs. Maxine Conner and Mrs. Marilyn Walton, both of Vermont; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Jones of Decatur and Mrs. Bula Mae Radigan of Springfield.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

He was a member of Vermont Christian Church, K. P. Lodge, and Rushville Saddle Club. He was a retired livestock dealer in Astoria and owned and operated a meat market in Astoria for several years.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Shawgo Memorial Home, Astoria. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
