Loa Mitchell Dies In Beardstown Hospital

Loa Eldon Mitchell, son of Leonard and Dell Groves Mitchell, was born Dec. 12, 1903 at Ray, Ill., and departed this life Monday, Dec. 6, at 11 p.m., at the age of 39 years, 11 months and 25 days, at Schmitt Memorial hospital, Beardstown.

In June, 1923 he was united in marriage to Hazel Clara Derry. To this union were born four children, Erma, student nurse, Blessing hospital, Clara, Wanda, and Betty, at home. He is the second of three sons, one, Loren, having preceded him in death, Dec. 19, 1923.

During the last summer he suffered from ill health, which finally lead to his death. Mr. Mitchell was a man who made friends with each and everyone he met.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Hazel, and daughters, Erma, 20, Clara, 16, Wanda, 14, and Betty, 12, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Mitchell of Ray, brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Mitchell and sons Leonard, U. S. army, Charles, U. S. army, Albert, at home, of Frederick, Mrs. Mabel Derry and sons Herschel and Herman, Astoria, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Snowden, sons Lloyd and Jimmy and daughters, Doris and Lois, Astoria, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Powell, Abingdon, and grandmother, Mrs. Earl Grove of Astoria.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the United Brethren church, conducted by Rev. Fred Thompson, assisted by Rev. C. W. Perkins. Burial in the Astoria cemetery.
