Herschel F. “John” Derry, 68, of Astoria, died unexpectedly early Friday morning, Mar. 4, 1977, at his home.
He was born Oct. 27, 1908, at Astoria, the son of James and Mabel Foster Derry.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Belville of Astoria; two stepsons, Phillip and Albert Derry of Davenport, Iowa; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Ann Moran of California; one grandson; seven step-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Mitchell of Mt. Sterling, Mrs. Helen Snowden and Mrs. Hildreth Powell, both of Astoria. One brother died previously.
Mr. Derry was a retired railroad worker.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Astoria Cemetery.
