Hazel C. Mitchell, 95, of Mount Sterling died Sunday morning, July 9, 2000, at the Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
She was born June 7, 1905, in Astoria, a daughter of James and Mabel Foster Derry. She married Loa E. Mitchell and he preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1943.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Erma Logsdon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Herman and Herschel Derry.
She is survived by three daughters, Clara (and Ed) Kunkel of Mount Sterling, Betty Root of Sacramento, Calif., and Wanda Busen of Mount Sterling; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Hildreth Powell of Astoria and Helen Snowden of Astoria.
She was a homemaker and a former member of the Methodist Church in Astoria.
Graveside services were held at Astoria Cemetery in Astoria. Hufnagel-Graham Funeral Home in Mount Sterling were in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Brown County Public Library in Mount Sterling.
